1 Jeongdongjin Gangneung 자연

Jeongdongjin is a famous spot for sunrise. Jeongdongjin Station is the railway station closest to the sea in the world and is famous as a filming location for the drama 'Sandglass.' You can see the world's largest sandglass. The sand at the top represents the future time, the flowing sand represents the present time, the golden round shape represents the rising sun of Jeongdong, and the parallel rails represent the eternity of time. The park offers a variety of attractions.
Jeongdongjin is not only a perfect place for a summer retreat, but it is also a place favored by people of all ages as a tourist destination in all four seasons, alongside the sunrise festival at the end of the year and New Year's Day.

2 Chotdaebawi Rock Donghae 자연

Chotdaebawi Rock, located on the shore near Chuam Beach, is an interestingly looking rock that stands in the middle of the sea, and its shape resembles a candlestick, hence the name Chotdaebawi Rock (Candlestick Rock). According to the legend, a man who lived in Chuam had a concubine, and when the jealousy between his wife and his concubine intensified, heaven struck them with a thunderbolt, leaving only the man. They say the image of the man left behind is Chotdaebawi Rock. About ten strange-looking rocks that stand around the Chotdaebawi Rock create a superb view of the East Sea. It was also called 'Neungpadae Tafonies,' which means 'the walk of a beautiful woman,' referring to the superb view created by a group of rocks here.
Chotdaebawi Rock is considered one of the best views in Yeongdong region, and especially around sunrise, the sun setting on Chotdaebawi Rock creates a spectacular sight, drawing attention as a sunrise spot.

3 Cheongchoho LakeSokcho 자연

Cheongchoho Lake, also called Ssangseongho Lake or Jinseongho Lake, is the largest lake among lakes and is characterized by its shape resembling a sake pot. The pavilion overlooking the lake is called Cheongchojeong Pavilion, and it adds beauty to the elegant scenery of sunrise. If you look at the orange lake before sunrise, you will forget about the cold winter and fall in love with the wonderful scenery.
Cheongchoho Lake Park is a habitat for migratory birds, and telescopes are installed to view the natural ecosystem. It creates a unique scenery of the lake in all four seasons, making it a favorite shooting spot for photo lovers and a resting place for citizens and tourists.

4 Cheongganjeong Pavilion Goseong 자연

Cheongganjeong Pavilion is a small pavilion constructed with an octagonal roof and the middle story on a strange rock cliff where Cheonggancheon Stream from the valley of Seoraksan Mountain and the boundless expanse of water heave and set. The enchanting view of clouds rising and disappearing like mist here is considered one of the Eight Famous Spots in Eastern Korea. In particular, the sunrise over the East Sea seen from Cheongganjeong Pavilion is truly spectacular. Inside the pavilion, a handwritten plaque by President Rhee Syngman and a poem by President Choi Kyu-ha remain.
It is said that Cheongganjeong Pavilion is a place where official and classy banquets or events commemorating special days are held. Noblemen would show off their academic talents at a banquet or recite poems.

5 Ayajin Beach Goseong 자연

Ayajin Beach has a beautiful surrounding landscape along with large and small rocks, a clear sea, and a clean white sandy beach. It is suitable for a family retreat. It is a place where you can swim safely as there is fine sand, and the depth of water is 1.5m to 2m for 30m from the beach. It opens temporarily every year in consultation with the military. Because it is known as a place to enjoy fishing and swimming, this beach attracts more and more people every year.
It is a place where large and small rocks, blue seawater, and white sandy beaches are in harmony. An island called Meonge is located in front of the beach.

6 Taebaeksan National ParkTaebaek 자연

Taebaeksan Mountain is referred to as the mountain where the spirit of the nation resides. The summit is high, but the path is not steep or difficult, making it easy to hike. You can enjoy the cool, clean water of the valley with lush trees in summer. Colorful maple leaves in autumn and snowscapes of Korean pine trees covered in white snow in winter. Taebaeksan Mountain is one of the three auspicious mountains of Korea. At the top of the mountain is the Cheonjedan Altar, which has been used for rites to heaven. The sunrise from here is very famous for its beauty. It is especially popular among many people as a hiking trail to see the New Year's sunrise.
When the weather is good, you can enjoy the sunrise over the East Sea from Cheonjedan Altar. Ordinarily, the sun rises between the clouds and the mountains. Embrace the energy of the rising sun.

7 Naksansa TempleYangyang 자연

Naksan Beach is a clean beach that many tourists visit in summer and also all year round for Naksansa Temple. In particular, the sunrise at Uisangdae Pavilion, among the attractions of Yangyang, which is famous for sunrise, is regarded as one of the eight famous spots in Eastern Korea. It is said that it is a place where Great Priest Uisang came to examine the mountain’s terrain after visiting the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy and visited before constructing Naksansa Temple. It is also called Uisangdae Pavilion or Heuisangdae Pavilion, which means that it is the place of the most beautiful image of the rising sun reflected on the sea.
It is said that if you make a wish while watching the sunrise on New Year’s Day at Naksan, Yangyang, all things will come true that year. On December 31, when the Sunrise Festival is celebrated, so many people come to this place because there is no place to set foot.
